I often get asked "how" I started in this business. Actually, I did not consider it a business when I started, my only goal was to make my dog some special, high quality gear. After I started training my first German Shepherd in obedience, I purchased a kangaroo slip collar for him over the Internet. What I received in the mail was horrible - both in braiding and in leather quality. It stretched considerably and, before long, would not even work for my dog. So, I did what any crafty person would do...I took it apart and fixed it.

In 2004, there were not many options for purchasing these leads and collars, and there were NO options for larger dogs. So, I decided to rectify that problem. I bought books and leather and went to work, practicing with different leathers and different braiding styles. I started selling items to friends and club members and, before long, I was getting emails from "friends of friends" who had been referred to me for gear. I quickly learned how to design and run a website and started showcasing my products on-line.

Fast forward ten kangaroo products are used all across the United States and abroad. I have many styles of collars and leads, which are used in the breed and obedience ring, as well as agility, herding, field and tracking. Not to mention, all of the special dogs who use my creations for their daily walks. Unfortunately, this has led to more business than I can handle, thus the reason for currently limiting my braiding orders.

There are plenty of suppliers out there if you are looking for a blingy, 4 strand lead for the breed ring. However, my products are different. Look around my website and you will see what I mean.

I sincerely appreciate my customers' loyalty to my products. Their repeat business means more to me than I can put words to.

Happy training!

My dogs....

OTCH Zita vom Krummenhager See UDX8 OGM VER RN

This girl has taught me a lot, including how to work with a soft dog. Eager to please, she is a very consistent dog who loves to train.

Winner of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA) Obedience Victrix (High Combined) and High in Trial award at the 2009 German Shepherd Nationals, which is, unfortunately, the only year we have been able to attend this event. Five time invitee to the National Obedience Invitational competition and 2011 and 2013 winner of the Top Scoring GSD award from the GSDCA.

She was the first German Shepherd in AKC history to earn the Obedience Grand Master (OGM) title, which is awarded to dogs for consistently earning high scores in Open and Utility competition. Zita also holds more OTCH (Obedience Trial Championship) points than
any German Shepherd in AKC history…a record that may never be broken by another German Shepherd.

2013 marks the end of Zita's obedience career, but she loves to work and pushes out the door when it's time to train. She will continue to play in the sport of obedience, without the pressure of showing, for as long as she wants to.

Niko vom Kolenda II UD RE

My 'poor' Novice A dog...Anyone who has shown in obedience will understand what I mean by that statement. We messed up a lot when starting out, but Niko easily obtained his UD title before I decided to retire him to show my other German Shepherd. He would have been better suited for the Schutzhund ring, but he tried hard in the obedience ring and was always ready for a game of tug.

Still a big puppy at heart, Niko enjoys retired life in Florida.
